What about the poor that can't afford to pay to get permission? Injecting doctor approval everywhere isn't a real solution, it's a short term patch. How many times have you heard about someone with an ailment doctors misdiagnosed and mistreated? I recently went through a nightmarish situation (unrelated to medical marijuana) in which well over a dozen doctors misdiagnosed my condition (some were brassy enough to tell me I was imagining things), though I'll admit that no U.S. FDA approved treatments worked anyway. I was lucky enough to be able to tap agricultural products and treatments available in Britain, Australia, and Canada without prescription. I resolved the situation in spite of the ineptitude of accepted medical community. The bottom line is that I don't want to have to rely on doctors to diagnose or treat me. Current U.S. laws are so heavily influenced by the American Medical Association that congress no longer serves constituents. I want the FREEDOM to treat myself and not just with respect to medical marijuana.
