Ange, garlic is actually very effective when used just at the onset of a yeast infection. One unwrapped clove will do, and it should be replaced daily until symptoms disappear. I swear by this method.

I love garlic. I organically grow six 50ft rows of it every year. Mostly because I love to add it to all sorts of food. Don't know if it keeps me from getting colds, but I rarely have colds or flu. Then again, I also take other natural anti-viral anti-bacterial health products.

[...] Garlic is a natural antibiotic. However, you need to consume lots of it in order to realize its benefits. You can hold raw garlic under your tongue or drink its juice for a more effective way of assimilating the healing properties. Cooking with garlic does help maintain health – however, the herb loses potency when cooked. You may be better off purchasing garlic pills, which contain only active ingredients, when you are ill.
Thanks Egga. Here in California I often see people with colds eating raw cloves of garlic like it's nothing! People also make a certain cider with pepper, garlic, and green tea (all fermented) to prevent / treat colds. Thanks for your comment! Stick around.
