I am just fascinated by this. You happened to write this on the same day as I got some diet email in my inbox about how routine is the best way to weight loss. (Why I get these things I don't know.) But it kind of makes sense -- do the good things habitually and they will overtake the bad ones. Thanks for a great article.

"A pot of good oolong or pu’er is best for the pre-evening meal"

Or post-meal. Yes pu'er is indeed a special drink ... kinda stands apart from all of the others due to the aging process which creates a whole collection of chemical reactions.

I mention here also that:

"I like to drink pu’er with milk and sugar. This is anathema to professional tea drinkers, but I find it soothing and relaxing. I drink it roughly two hours before I go to bed."

am I a heretic? :)

Did you forget to mention pu-erh tea? Yes, oolong is a good tea to lead into a noontime nap. Pu-erh is another tea that's energizing without it being because it's the highest in caffeine. In fact, Western science hasn't yet discovered why pu-erh gives so much energy to its drinkers. It's a mystery but it's the most wonderful of all the teas spiritually. And pu-erh is the healthiest tea because it has probiotics. None of the other teas can boast that. --Teaternity
