The Benefits of Tulsi Tea

holy basil

The Holy Basil plant, also known as Tulsi, is a bountiful herb, entrenched in the culture of India as an Ayurvedic healing wonder and a Hindu object of prayer. It lives with tradition in India and has been a physical and spiritual cure all.

Tulsi is a nutrient rich herb that also conducts improved absorption of nutrients into the body from other foods and herbs as well. Its most abundant nutrients are vitamins A and C, and the minerals iron, calcium and zinc.

Its most popular health benefit of tulsi tea is that it is an adoptogen. Adaptogens are in high demand in today’s fast-paced society. Tulsi regulates cortisol and helps those that are “stressed out” to handle challenges with reduced stress.

“One of Tulsi’s traditional uses has been in the treatment of digestive disorders ranging from heartburn to bloating. Studies in animals have suggested that there is a scientific basis to these longstanding claims. Holy basil has been shown to have significant anti-ulcer activity. It reduces the effect of peptic acid or irritating drugs on the stomach lining and increases the production of protective stomach mucous.” -Holy-basil.com

Tulsi contains ursolic acid – one of the cosmetic industry’s latest favorites because not only does it quickly heal the skin but it also improves elasticity and removes wrinkles. A poultice made from the herb is used topically for its antifungal and antibacterial actions”. Herbal Adaptogens

Tulsi aids meditation

Due to the mind nutrients it contains, Tulsi has been touted for its ability to bring mental and spiritual clarity and to assist with meditation. David Winston, an herbalist, reports:

“In my clinical practice I use holy basil to enhance cerebral circulation and memory. It is used in ayurvedic medicine to relieve “mental fog” caused by chronic cannabis smoking. It can be combined with other cerebral stimulants such as rosemary, bacopa, and ginkgo to help people with menopausal cloudy thinking, poor memory, attention deficit disorder (ADD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and to speed up recovery from head trauma.”Holy-basil.com

      Hey Veto,

Try drinking “mate” tea which you can purchase in Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s. Also, I hear that “bilberry” is good for your eyes. Also, see what some organic carrot juice does for ya.

      Blessings,
      Dave

Bilberry tea or capsules is a good herb for the eyes. You can also take Zeaxanthin and Lutein supplements. These are vitamins that support the eyes. These vitamins are in carrots, greens like Kale and spinach, and other veggies. Google these and you will find plenty of information and websites that you can purchase them.

I must say that there are many organic foods that we know are good for you. Two that come to mind for me is pure coconut oils. This can be drank, used for hair conditioning and is also thought to be excellent for your skin.

I love different kinds of teas, especially those which detox your body.

Does anyone know the cheapest place to get the Tulsi tea… ideally somewhere on the high-street?
