Really Really Raw Pistachio Nuts

My father recently returned home for a long trip to Persia (Iran) and brought me back some goodies! Raw pistachio nuts and raw white mulberries that have been sun dried.

What’s really interesting about the raw pistachioes is that they are like no other nuts I’ve ever seen before. They actually have the green, yellow, and orange skin on them and they haven’t been dried out at all, retaining their softness and creamy texture. In Persian, raw pistachios such as these are picked from the tree then directly kept cool or refrigerated.

Nuts, especially pistachioes — especially really really raw pistachioes like these — are extremely good for your health. Pistachioes are especially helpful with maintaining a healthy heart. Here are some of the primary health benefits of pistachio nuts:

raw pistachioes

  • Good source of dietary fiber
  • Lowers bad cholesterol
  • High in potassium (1 serving has more potassium that a half of a large banana)
  • High antioxidant source
  • High protein levels
  • Excellent source of: copper, manganese, phosphorus, B6, riboflavin, and niacin
  • Eating pistachios help keep your eyes healthy

Ok, and while we’re here…. Let me show you a picture of these raw white mulberries that my dad also got for me. They’re absolutely amazing. They have the gumminess of a gummy bears and are so sweet and tender. I wish that I could share them with you, but for now, this picture will have to do…
