Would you believe me if I told you that people are brushing their teeth with soap? Well, it’s true. I’ve recently spoken with several people here in California who have told me that they’ve been using Dr. Bronner’s soap to brush their teeth — some of who use it every day!
I was a bit shocked upon hearing about this, but not too much. Of course, I’m familiar with Dr. Bronner’s All-in-One organic/vegan soap – I’ve been using it for years to wash my hands/showers/and even for my hair at times. It’s great stuff, really.
Today I searched around the net to see if other people have been brushing with the soap; here’s what I found:
Gary (gary at tubenet.com) writes: “I’ve been brushing my teeth for the last year with Dr. Bronner’s peppermint. It works great! No gagging. The secret is to use just enough of the soap. Don’t use a lot, just a ‘tad’ – it helps to water it down 50% first (in the container). That’s what I do for bathing too. Happy cleaning!”

“Yay soap. A little bit goes a long way, and you can use it for anything, from washing cloths to brushing teeth. Try the peppermint.”

“At first, I felt a little awkward using the same soap to wash my hair and brush my teeth. However, it works and smells minty fresh! Beware, curiosity may take hold of you and cause you to test this soap for all of its said uses.”

You can actually use castile soap in place of your toothpaste, and pure soap is much better for your teeth than the nasty chemicals they put in most commercial pastes. Just add a few drops directly to your wet brush. It works wonders, although the flavor can take some getting used to!

Maybe I have a low tolerance for certain tastes, but I would not encourage you to use Dr Bronner’s Magic Liquid Soap to brush your teeth. After rinsing with water three times, I still have the soapy taste in my mouth and it’s aggravating. I know people who have used Dr Bronner’s to brush their teeth and they liked it. So to each his own. I still do highly recommend its intended use as a soap. But for brushing my teeth, I’m sticking to the what I can buy in the toothpaste aisle.
Well, I haven’t tried it yet… but I’m going to, one of these days. I’ve been living out in the woods for the past few weeks, so it’ll come in handy when I’m not in town. Let’s just hope that I don’t have a soapy mouth for the rest of the day!

I read about it on the internet too. I needed something badly to help my painful, infected gums. I had tried every remedy out there before that.
Then I tried Dr. Bronner’s Almond soap and I have never seen such great results. The peppermint I tried later tastes better (more like toothpaste) but it does not give the same results.

using Soap for brushing your teeth is unheard off for many people and when I tried mine it was the Rose flavoured soap! A bit yuck afterwards but once I have had a drink of water there was no taste at all. Teeth feel clean and gums love it!
