I’m usually not one to demand that you tune in to talk shows. But, this Oprah episode has the potential to be a great learning experience. Especially for those who are stuck in the main stream when it comes to medicine.
Who is Kris Carr?
Kris Carr is a wellness activist and in her own words a “cancer thriver”. It all started on a Valentine’s Day in 2003, when she was diagnosed with a rare and incurable form of cancer, already at stage 4 (epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE), a vascular cancer in the lining of the blood vessels in her liver and lungs so rare that only 0.01 percent of the cancer population has it!). Despite the big shock it obviously was for her, it sparked a deep desire in her to living life to the fullest possible and enjoy.
What resulted out of her desire was a deep healing pilgrimage that has made her life, in her own words, “truly, madly magical”. Her journey has ignited a wellness revolution on a global scale and has attracted thousands of health and happiness seekers. She has written many books and also lectures on the topics of looking and feeling better such as by losing weight, reducing stress and generating more energy through her ‘Crazy Sexy Revolution’.
Listening to Your Inner Guide
Like many other wise thinkers, Carr believes in listening to her ‘Inner Guide’. She claims that doing so has brought her back to nature, and connected her to her garden and kitchen in a way that has taught her about a nutrient dense and plant-passionate diet. Like all health conscious people in America today, she believes that the Standard American Diet is destroying the health of many and that activities like regular exercise are ‘non-negotiable’.
Carr is among a growing number of people living and thriving with cancer, thanks to medical advances as well as a progressive philosophy in oncology that recognizes past mistakes of over-treatment and welcomes alternative medicine as a partner in the healing process. The new approach, she says, shatters the stigma that cancer is either a death sentence or something that has to be eradicated—and opens the door to treatments designed to keep tumors in check, which could buy time while new therapies are developed. “Many amazing new treatments are targeting tumors and leaving patients with their lives and their immune systems [intact],” she says. “Plus, there is so much that we as patients can do to help our bodies regain health.”

Kris Carr Kicks Cancer’s Butt, Naturally
As mentioned earlier, Kris Carr was diagnosed with stage 4 Cancer. And, as she says in her film Crazy Sexy Cancer, there is no stage 5. So, the young woman was left with what modern medicine would have us believe is a death sentence. But she wasn’t having any of it.
In the film, she refers to Cancer as a teacher. And, she is an inspiration and example of how determination and nutrition can pull us through any disease.
Kris runs a blog . Check it out, even if you are not affected by Cancer. Her experiences and advice are priceless lessons that can make us all a bit healthier and conscious.
