If you have a family then you already know that it’s tough to stay healthy, especially with children that take up almost all of your time during the day. Like everything else in life, it is always good to have a plan and a well managed time schedule. If you can plan in such a way that gives you the time to squeeze in a 30-minute workout, then you’ll be back to a healthy lifestyle very soon.
Given below is a list of tips to help you manage your time so you can build up a good workout plan:
1) Good Time Management
Realistically, the days where you used to be able to go to the gym for 2 or 3 hours at a time are gone, so you need to get the best out of your time while the children are at school or out with your other half. You don’t need to have a whole routine planned; even if you can just fit in a 20-minute run, it’s better than nothing.
Also, instead of driving everywhere, you should walk, walk the kids to school if it’s not too far and use the car as little as possible; that way you’ll save money and get good exercise in the process. If you have a shopping mall close by, it’s easier to walk to it; however, if it’s located at a distance, you may drive to it but then walk around inside the mall giving you a chance to do some window shopping as well as to burn some calories. (Try to stay away from the food court though!)
2) Exercise With The Children
Exercising with the kids is a lot simpler and less complicated than you may think. Simple things like rollerblading or cycling can be a very effective work out while bonding and having fun with your children. If you have a toddler, it is a good idea to go for walks with them in the stroller; that way it’s a little added extra to your workout.
Playing sports with your children is also great; they will love that you are taking part in their favorite hobby with them. It will also greatly benefit you and your kids with the great exercise that sports activities provide.
3) Home Workout Videos
With the internet virtually everywhere, it’s not difficult to find some good home workout videos on YouTube and workout websites. Simply searching “30 Minute Home Work Out” into Google will bring up hundreds of videos and tutorials of how to get great specific body workouts at home.
The more you get comfortable working out with videos at home, the more advanced you can get with the videos and get better workouts.
Always remember that all it takes is a few home workouts to get in to the habit of exercising at home and you will never want to give it up; it’s a lot harder to stop exercising than to start. Stay dedicated and you will have a healthy lifestyle for a long time and will achieve visible results in no time.
